Sometimes I cloud my decisions with judgments, worry or justifications that mask my guilt.
Actually, I have a long history of judging, analyzing and worrying over my thoughts – and doing it a lot – actually – to DEATH. It was a fearful way of life for me for a very long time – just ask anyone in my family or any of my friends – just don’t ask my husband because he will tell you that I still do it. ;-)
See that’s the thing about who we are, no matter what we learn or where we go or who we interact with – THERE WE ARE. My tendency to make decisions and then analyze them or plan for how I would deal with anything that could go wrong (which is then what I would bring into my life – a lot of “things going wrong” – was a time in my life I now affectionately refer to as “the hard way years”).
This tendency will never go away – it has diminished, but it will never completely vanish – but I love this “bad” habit and here is why …
Because it tells me when I am about to slow down my delivery process which often includes getting deliveries I didn’t (think) I ordered (they often come as cute packages that contain a whole lot of “things going wrong”). When this feeling creeps up in me I just recognize that I am doing it – again (analyzing, worrying, etc.), and then I turn my thoughts around – faster and more easily. It gives me a double, sometimes triple dose of injecting a positive intention into the Universe.
Recognizing this habit, forgiving myself for it (which eventually evolved into thanking myself for it), and then moving on is a muscle that I developed over time. We all develop muscle for any new routine we take into our lives. So please, if you share the tendency that I indulged for so many years, which is now (thankfully) a part of my personality, embrace it – it is here to teach you something. It is a teacher that can eternally be at your service.
- Make choices
- Own them (no judgement)
- Quickly take action on opportunities that can help you manifest your choices.
Notice your doubt, worry, fear, guilt – they are all just visions for the future – just as happiness and success are just visions for the future too. What vision do you chose to give your attention to?
Acknowledge your derailing thoughts, thank them for showing up, and then evolve them into productive thoughts. Allow them to remind you to take action on the productive vision you have created for your life.
