In follow up to my last blog I thought I would dive deeper into the concept of DECISION.
Although clarity of what we want in life is often a hearty challenge for many (I have been there myself and I have built an entire practice around helping people to get clarity), it is often not enough to get us what we want. I know this statement is counter to The Law of Attraction – but it is true.
Foolish people are people who are always getting ready to live, but never living. I see so many people who are really into learning more and more about themselves and who come to conclusions or “decisions” about what to do with their life, but often it just doesn’t seem to come together. The reason is common among many.
Often we may know (or can eventually figure out) what we want in our life. We may even make a lot of plans and preparations for what we want but sometimes it just doesn’t seem to show up. You might wonder “Why?”, “Why is this not happening?” “What’s wrong with me that I can’t get into my life what others seem to easily have?”. The answer is simple – we forgot to make a decision to have it! We think we make a decision but we don’t. We we actually do is make a judgment about “how” our vision is “supposed” to happen or materialize in OUR lives (which is often judged to be the same way it comes into other people’s lives).
Success starts when we make decisions to have or create something of value into our lives – NOT when we envision something. Having a vision of what you want in your life is always a first step. Many of us blame our indecision on lack of vision (we can’t figure out what we want), but the truth is most of us know what we want (or we at least know what we don’t want which is equally valuable). But the truth is there is probably a hesitation with decision. The true “decision” to actually have or create anything is often the most difficult (and powerful), part of the manifestation equation:
vision + decision = mission
Living our vision and decision (our mission) means making preparations – clearing space or setting a mood that will allow what we decide to fully come into our lives. It means taking action on opportunities or ideas that will make the experience of our mission seem more vivid and real.
Living a decision calls us to evaluate congruencies or incongruencies in our life – examining where we are in and out of alignment. This is not fun – no one likes to expose their lack of integrity OR make changes in their life. Change is kryptonite to the ego (even when the change is good for or desirable to us).
So much is implied in decision – How interesting that other words for decision include conclusion, determination and “call” – they are synchronous! Decision IS conclusion (outcome/having what you already want). Decision IS determination (persistence). Decision is a “call” (or “calling”).
When we decide to have something – then we already have it. We are just at the beginning stage of a process that includes persistence toward a conclusion of a unique personal calling for you. Decision is a choice to act and look for evidence of what you want – it is a commitment to give your attention and energy to things, people, ideas and actions that will deepen and expand your experience of what you have decided to have in your life. If you are still allowing your attention, time, effort, energy and what you talk about to be about things that don’t deepen your experience of what you want then you are not in decision, you are still in the vision setting stage. We may think we make decisions but the truth is until we actually align what we think, do, say and believe with a decision – we don’t really have a decision we just have a declaration or announcement or “talk” and as they say, “talk is cheap”.
What decision are you avoiding?
